The Position
Grid United has numerous large-scale transmissions projects under development and is currently identifying and studying additional prospective projects across North America. As a Right of Way Analyst, you will analyze various right-of-way documents, easements, options, licenses, permits, leases and other land agreements which are obtained by the land team, including title documents and land records to ensure accuracy of legal descriptions. In this role, you will support the land team, engineering, legal, and accounting teams concerning research and reporting of land rights information and documentation; and other Land Department activities, as requested by management.
Position based out of Houston TX
Key Responsibilities & Outcomes:
Thoroughly analyze all land rights agreements, payment information, and title records, if applicable, covering fee, federal, state, Tribal, county and municipal lands, that have been acquired by the company.
Input appropriate land agreement information and payment data into the land database. Note any missing information, improper execution, acknowledgements and recording data. Follow up on any issues found in the data input process. Ensure correct data inputs and proper cross-referencing for dependable data retrieval and query reports.
Facilitate correspondence, paperwork and document copies with respective counterparties and timely submit fully executed originals to the county courthouse for recording.
Maintain the land database system for any changes or updates. Handle correspondence and inquiries as needed with other departments as well as management and counterparties.
Support the preparation of annual payment forecasts and cost estimates for budgeting purposes.
Monitor all obligations, renewal dates, expirations, and other events or requirements tied to the company's land agreements. Prepare monthly reports designed for each of the items being monitored and distribute to the appropriate land personnel for their review, approval and instructions to achieve timely compliance with all matters.
Work with the land team to facilitate the appropriate documentation that may be needed to renew, extend, or release agreements, including the coordination of associated payments.
Under minimal supervision, performs professional level work. Provides thoughtful analysis and research. Responsible for critically important work involving complex projects.
Will be required to maintain accurate and up-to-date ownership information in the company's land database.
Collaborate with land, accounting, and legal departments to ensure accuracy of ownership records.

Desired Experience and Skills
Bachelor's Degree (with an emphasis in energy management, energy commerce, or law preferred)
Minimum of two (2) years of experience reviewing land agreements and legal descriptions
Requires technical, financial and business knowledge. Knows and applies the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with databases and excel.
Strong working knowledge of land-use documents and experience with legal land descriptions.
Awareness of federal, state, county and municipal land rights.
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications required, including but not limited to Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, PowerBI, and Access.
Communicate in an effective and understandable way, both verbally and written, including email.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with land staff, other departments and management.
Always use tact, courtesy and professionalism in dealing with a wide variety of people inside and outside the company.
May be required to work non-traditional hours, as needed.
Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and co-workers.
Carry a company provided cell phone/pager (or a personal cell phone with approved company apps) and be available to respond during working hours and infrequently, during non-working hours.
